Sri Rahula Foundation

On May 07, 1991, a group of educated and intelligent youth, young and old, led by me Kodagoda Gamage Pathmacandrawana, established a society called “Samadhi Destitute Shelter” Society in Habaraduwa constituency of Galle District, Habaraduwa Divisional Registry Office No. 165/B Panugalgoda Rural Service Domain. Based on community care activities, every full moon morning, a needy family from one village was given dry food and drinks, and they did a big mission for 10 years by helping the children’s education. On the strong request of the members, the name of this community was changed in the year 2001 to Sri Rahula Buddhist Center and it was named as a Buddhist center as a social service center of Habaraduwa Divisional Registry Office. The name of Sri Rahula Buddhist Center, which has been doing a great mission to the society, had to be changed again. According to an announcement issued by the Ministry of Buddhist Affairs at that time, the center section of all Buddhist centers had to be fundamentally changed. Accordingly, on the 15th day of the second month of the year 2018, the Sri Rahula Foundation was established under the registered name DS/MA/SDB/18/02/03 at the Imadua Divisional Registry Office. Many countries of the world, including Sri Lanka, have built trust in this foundation as a very successful foundation doing a great mission to the society.
